Generic Formula is Okay!!

One of the biggest expenses for formula fed babies Is of course formula. I know to many people you may be thinking, "I will pinch and save in other ways but I will NOT feed my baby generic formula.". Well something that many of you may not know is that the FDA regulates all baby formula, brand and generic, and it requires ALL formula to contain the same nutrients and ingredients. The Babies R Us brand formula even displays a large sticker that states this. If you pick up a can of the brand and a can of the generic you can even compare the vitamins and minerals to see that they are exactly the same.

I know I told you to make sure you sign up for the formula websites yesterday and I promise they will send you tons of the gift checks but the best part of the formula websites are the free samples. Even with the coupons, the prices are still not comparable to what you save when buying generic. My daughter has probably used every generic brand of the Enfamil Gentlease and we have never had a problem.

Here are some great places to buy your generic version of your favorite formula:

Target-The large canister runs for 19.99 and usually Target has some coupons on their website for formula or just $1 off of any up & up product of $3 or higher. Their price is already cheaper than the brands but the cheaper price is even in bigger packaging.

Babies R Us-They offer a rewards program where you buy 9 cans and you get the 10th free. Their prices are also cheaper than the brand and they often always run some special as well. The last time I bought formula from there I bought three cans and got a $10 gift card back. Starting today they have a coupon for $5 off of two cans. After stacking that with my gift card from last time I will pretty much get two cans for the price of one and two more cans towards my free cans. That also leads me to remind you to go to BRU and sign up for their newsletters and their rewards program as well!

Sams-Their price on the large cans of formula are worth the membership. Their large can is bigger than Target's and retails for around $21.99.

Wal-Mart- Their formula also comes in larger containers at a cheaper price than the brand.

I know to some of you, I won't be able to convince you overnight that generic is okay but just think of it and the next time you're out buying your formula just pick up the can of formula and compare. The first time you realize it's okay, you'll be kicking yourself for buying brand all along!!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe new years!
